Being part of SONRREC is an opportunity to work in an environment that is both challenging and rewarding. Here are a few ways you could get involved.

Volunteer

If you volunteer with the Somali Natural Resources Research Center (SONRREC), you will not only make a positive contribution towards protecting and conserving our natural resources including oceans and our coastal environments, but, country-wide mining, and energy sites.

Your time, skills, and technical knowledge are highly valued and can be of immense worth to our work. You’ll meet new people, gain experience, have fun, participate in field trips and conservation research programs, interact with terrestrial and ocean wildlife and contribute to the awareness and upliftment of communities and the preservation and conservation of our valuable nature.

We offer internship and volunteer opportunities in Somalia for groups and individuals. This provides members a chance to contribute to one of our projects whilst experiencing life as part of the SONRREC team. We run a various range of programs/projects, so whether you are a professional, researcher, or a student, you will be able to find a volunteer posting in a field that suits your interest, experience, or studies.

Once your application is approved, you’ll receive an email from us letting you know you are ready to get started.

During this process, we may ask for some essential personal information including your name and contact details. We’ll never share this information with anyone outside of the SONRREC team. The information we collect helps us stay connected with you about upcoming activities and events. It also ensures we continue to deliver quality programs.

NOTE: Our long-term volunteer intakes are twice a year Spring (March-May) and Summer (June – September). We have an option of single-day, 1 week, and 1 month.
